The 78th Golden Globes - What Are Your Thoughts?

The nominees have been announced. What are your thoughts?

As with every year, the awards show is not without its controversies. There were also plenty of snubs and surprises. Intermixed within all the talk, a bit of history was made as well (see also).

It's no secret that the Globes aren't the prestigious ceremony that its counterparts like The Oscars or BAFTA's are. However, they are often times used as the first indicator of how awards season will shape up--for better or for worse.

The awards show will be hosted by Amy Poehler and Tina Fey in a first-ever bicoastal ceremony. I think it will be very interesting to see how each awards show handles the pandemic restrictions. Obviously there will be lots of Zoom calls and pre-recorded speeches, but the Globes, and especially bigger events like The Oscars, are built on their showmanship. They are meant to be spectacles. The limitations of remote hosts and winners will certainly put a damper on that.
