A New Chapter: Where Have We Been? Where Are We Headed?
Where have we been?
Since the release of our 2015 feature film THE BRICK HOUSE, we've pretty much fallen completely off the radar. Our first point of duty is to admit our failings and acknowledge that we need to put in the work to remind everyone why we're worth your time and interest.
The post-production of The Brick House was a grueling process, one we honestly weren't well prepared for. We were left to complete the project out of pocket and with a very limited post-production team.
We are immensely grateful and proud of the amazing work everyone did on this film. Without them, the movie would never have been possible in any way, shape, or form. We are proud of the ambition and passion we all shared while making The Brick House.
Because of all the effort and time the cast and crew devoted, we had big dreams for where the film would go. Unfortunately, it wasn't able to take off the way we had hoped. We did win a few awards in some film festivals, but the momentum never managed to push the film too far.
We could never consider The Brick House a failure because the combined efforts of our cast and crew made it a success for us. Perhaps the sum wasn't as great as all the parts, but the experience, memories made, and lessons learned are priceless. If in 10 years, Pocket Full of All Stars has risen into the film production stratosphere, then The Brick House was the springboard that started it all.
After the film was officially completed and served its festival run, we were unsure of where we wanted Pocket Full of All Stars to be heading. The prospect of taking on another feature film wasn't practical and circumstances in our personal lives were transforming. We regret not being more transparent about our situation, but taking this hiatus was a necessary evil.
So, what's new?
We've been quietly working behind the scenes to revamp the Pocket Full of All Stars brand and develop new, exciting content. This website will serve as a central hub for all past, present, and future projects.
Here's what's on our slate: PFAS Stories, an anthology short film trilogy, and an Untitled YouTube Mockumentary series.
PFAS Stories is a collection of screenplays written by us at Pocket Full of All Stars. These experimental stories span across all genres, big and small. New screenplays are added to the collection every month. We want Pocket Full of All Stars to be a collaborative community and we hope that sharing screenplays will encourage others to write and produce their own works as well as provide a consistent form of compelling entertainment.
Currently, we're writing a fan-fic feature film for NaNoWriMo: a sequel to Steven Spielberg's JURASSIC PARK. You can follow this blog or @PFASStories on Twitter to stay up-to-date on our progress.
The Anthology is a 3-episode series of short films tied together by a single theme. Each film explores a similar concept in vastly different ways. As this series develops, we'll have much more details to share.
Finally, we have the Untitled YouTube Series. The series examines fictional narratives in the realistic style of documentaries you might see on PBS or Discovery channel. Original stories will be crafted here at Pocket Full of All Stars and then turned into shorts released on our YouTube channel and Amazon Prime. New episodes will be released weekly on Youtube, while the entire season will be available at launch for Amazon Prime members.
